Lukashenko instructs to improve non-cash utility subsidies system in Belarus

MINSK, 20 October (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko instructed to improve the system of non-cash utility subsidies as he spoke at the nationwide seminar on the improvement and development of the Belarusian housing and utility sector, BelTA has learned.

“The government should re-examine the cashless utility subsidies system, and, if necessary, take further measures to improve it,” Alexander Lukashenko noted.

According to him, no household that cannot afford to pay for utility services should be left without the help from the State. “We must ensure support for anyone who is in a difficult situation. It was for this purpose that we introduced non-cash housing subsidies,” the president said.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, the system of subsidies is underdeveloped and not all the people in need get them. “We receive numerous complains from regions, utility companies, people. The National Bank needs to take a close look at its nonbank credit and financial organization - the Belarusian united payment and information system ERIP. It is inadmissible for the system to become another mediator between the state and people to cheat the latter,” the head of state stressed.
