ZHITKOVICHI, 28 April (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko gave an instruction to clean up and beautify the town of Petrikov within a year at the meeting in the Zhitkovichi District Executive Committee on 28 April, BelTA informs.
“Do your best to turn Petrikov into a nice place just like Zhitkovichi by May 2019,” the head of state said. “Clean up and beautify Petrikov within a year. When I come to the town, maybe, in May or in summer, I want to see a beautiful place, just like Zhitkovichi. But do it wisely.”
The participants of the meeting also discussed the social and economic development of Petrikov, including the construction of the Petrikov mining and processing plant. The head of state was informed about the plans to launch the enterprise in December 2019 and reach the estimated capacity in 2021.
Alexander Lukashenko pointed out the importance of the plant construction project for the region as it will become the third facility of this kind after the plants in Soligorsk and Lyuban. “I want to build this hub in Petrikov, to promote industrial development. This is a great project for Petrikov and Zhitkovichi,” he said.
The president gave instructions to step up efforts in housing construction. “We need to build housing to attract people from other places. They will come if there is an apartment. Soligorsk specialists should be instructed to plan Petrikov by the example of Soligorsk. Maybe, it will be smaller than Soligorsk, but there should be modern houses,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
The construction of the Petrikov mining and processing plant has been the most ambitious investment project of OAO Belaruskali so far. The project envisages the construction of a mine and a sylvinite dressing plant. The first stage of the project will be completed in December 2019. Te estimated capacity of 1.5 million tonnes of potassium chloride per year will be reached in 2021. It is expected that the annual output of the plant will rise to 3 million tonnes of potassium chloride by 2025.
