Lukashenko holds Olympic Assembly of Belarus' NOC

MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) – Belarus President, President of the National Olympic Committee Alexander Lukashenko holds the Olympic Assembly of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) in Minsk on 30 May, BelTA has learned.

The president remarked that the assembly had been postponed for a long time. Time was needed to analyze the results of the previous Olympic cycle, evaluate the prospects of Belarusian athletes at the forthcoming Olympic Winter Games, discuss the preparations for the Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo. “During the Olympic Assembly we should give an honest and objective evaluation of the development of the entire Olympic movement and the entire industry. Taking into account the today's circumstances, it is needed to revise the personnel structure of the National Olympic Committee, executive bodies due to various reasons, first of all, objective ones,” he said.

It is also needed to revise the NOC Charter, the head of state said.

It was reported that the participants of the assembly will elect the president, first vice president and vice presidents of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus, members of the executive committee of this sports organization. The participants of the event will also discuss the introduction of amendments and addenda to the NOC Charter and other organizational issues, analyze the report of the audit commission regarding the operation of the National Olympic Committee in 2013-2016

Special attention will be drawn to the preparations of Belarusian athletes for the 23rd Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang and the 32nd Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo. It is also planned to discuss topical issues and prospects of sports in Belarus.

Partaking in the Olympic Assembly are the heads of Belarusian sports federations, Olympic training centers, departments of sport and tourism at oblast executive committees and the Minsk City Hall.
