Lukashenko forbids firing workers without consent of local authorities

MOGILEV, 21 March (BelTA) – It is inadmissible to fire workers at enterprises and organizations without consent of local authorities, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting with the workers of Kronospan enterprises on 21 March, BelTA informs.

“It is inadmissible to cut jobs and fire workers without consent of local authorities,” the President said.

He explained that this decision is not dictated by the resolution to lock the process of firing and hiring workers. The head of state said that there are bad workers who do not want to work. “Of course, a director will not keep such workers. And he should not. Certain people think today when I urge to raise the average salary to Br1,000 that they will raise it to Br1,000 and fire a certain number of people, including normal workers,” the President said. “This cannot be done without consent of local authorities.”

Alexander Lukashenko explained that it is needed to employ people who have lost their jobs. “It is inadmissible to throw people out on the street in the complicated time. It is wrong. Perhaps, this is not a market driven approach, but now we will act this way,” the Belarusian leader said.
