Lukashenko demands reasonable cost of building silage and hay pits

SLUTSK DISTRICT, 6 October (BelTA) – Maximum cost of building silage and hay pits should not exceed $25,000, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during a working trip to Slutsk District on 6 October, BelTA has learned.

The head of state was informed about the production and economic conditions at Rachkovichi farm. The enterprise has recently built two silage and hay pits. It was mentioned that contracting organizations were involved in this work. Therefore, the cost of those silage and hay pits reached $100,000. If the farm had built them using its own resources, the cost would have been $25,000 per one pit.

“There should be no higher prices,” Alexander Lukashenko said. “They can be lower. But if the prices are higher [Chairman of the State Control Committee Leonid] Anfimov will make an inspection.”

The president explained his tough requirement. “We have a program and will start to inject money in this branch. They will try to improve their financial standing and start spending $200,000 on silage and hay pits instead of $25,000.”

At the same time, the head of state remarked that, perhaps, not all farms in Belarus can build high-quality silage and hay pits using their own resources. In this case they will have to work with contracting organizations. Alexander Lukashenko irged to analyze the ways to reduce prices in such cases. For example, contracting organizations can be exempt from taxes on such works.

Rachkovichi farm specializes in the production of milk, meat, grain, sugar beet, potato.
