MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) – It is necessary to raise living standards of the nation. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko reminded about the relevant instructions as he appointed a number of municipal power vertical officials on 12 May, BelTA has learned.
The head of state said: “The main matters we constantly talk about are social matters, which will drive the economy. Prices, salaries, employment. As we deal with these matters, we will have to modernize enterprises and create new jobs. Respectively, we will take care of salaries, too. If we fail to resolve the problem of low salaries, we will not be able to work later on. People will not understand us then.”
“Save resources, shuffle manpower, reduce personnel requirements but we should give people good salaries through conservation and labor productivity. We should help people earn money. I will always keep an eye on the three matters,” stated Alexander Lukashenko.
The president also drew attention to the development of major regional centers like Orsha, Bobruisk, Borisov or Baranovichi. Alexander Lukashenko has already given the relevant instructions to develop Orsha District. These matters will be discussed soon during an out session of the central government.
Alexander Lukashenko described these and similar Belarusian cities and surrounding territories as regions. By doing so, he underscored the importance of the comprehensive development of these territories from the point of view of the production sector and social affairs. “These regions represent another stage in our work. And we should resolve these problems fast,” said the head of state.
Alexander Lukashenko addressed the newly appointed heads of municipal government agencies. He underlined: “I need ironclad order. No more talks. I don't want to hear excuses that you lack resources or something. Today you will go out and pursue the policy I talk so much about in the name of the president. You know what you should do over there.”
The president also spoke about ideology. He underscored that ideological work should not be limited to simple lecturing. “Ideology should uplift people's spirits, the nation's spirits. I don't mean the regular kind of public events but sport ones,” noted the head of state.
Alexander Lukashenko pointed out that cultural and sport facilities, which had been built in various cities and towns, including in Orsha, are not used to the best of their potential. There are no sport teams assigned to them. Meanwhile, there are promising coaches in Belarus, who are ready to develop all kinds of sports in the regions. “You should invite these guys and give them accommodation. It is necessary to set up schools and teams where skating rinks are available, including the main team, the backup team, schools for kids, and skating services for the general public. These facilities should not stay empty,” said the head of state.
