Lukashenko criticizes overspending in road maintenance

MINSK, 29 July (BelTA) – There should be no overspending in the road maintenance, Belarus president made the statement during the working trip to Minsk Oblast on 29 July, BelTA has learned.

“You have begun to asphalt the ring road again. Because of your work there are traffic jams, and people are stuck (you could work when traffic is less intensive)… It is high time we found out how budget funds are utilized,” the head of state said. “I use that road. Its condition is quite good. Perhaps, we will need to renovate it some time in the future. But we have a schedule. According to it, this road is to be renovated in seven years' time, and it will be renovated no matter how good it is.”

Alexander Lukashenko said that the works should be done and funds should be spent depending on the real situation. Probably, it makes sense to repair other roads first. “The ring road can stay as it is for another year. We should take a frugal approach to everything. And you are spending money irrationally. We do not have money to spare,” the President said.
