MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated member of the Belarusian athletics team Ivan Tikhon on winning a silver medal in the Olympic men's hammer throw competition in Rio, BelTA learned from the presidential press service.
“This is a true feat!” the President stressed. “The strongest athletes in the world were among your rivals. You have clinched this medal surmounting colossal moral and psychological pressure. In spite of doubts and criticism, during the throwing competition you have shown what a true patriot of the Homeland can do.”
“Your hard-won victory is a wonderful example for thousands of girls and boys making the first steps in life and sport,” the head of state noted.
