Lukashenko arrives in St. Petersburg on working visit

ST. PETERSBURG, 3 April (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has arrived in the Russian Federation on a working visit. The aircraft with the Belarusian head of state on board has landed at Pulkovo Airport, BelTA informs.

In St. Petersburg, Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin are expected to discuss a broad choice of matters concerning the development of Belarusian-Russian bilateral relations while focusing on trade and economic cooperation, the problems that exist in these spheres as well as interaction in integration formats.

It is noteworthy that the Day of Unity of Peoples of Belarus and Russia was celebrated on 2 April. In a message of greetings addressed to Belarusian and Russian people Alexander Lukashenko remarked that the advantages of the Union State integration are undeniable. However, they should not be taken for granted. “Various endurance tests show their fragility. Therefore, by joint efforts we will be able to overcome all emerging difficulties, open up new opportunities for the development of the national economies, improvement of the living standards of our peoples and states,” the message of greetings reads.

In a message of greetings addressed to Alexander Lukashenko the Russian head of state underlined the importance of the Union State for Belarusians and Russians and praised the achievements of integration cooperation in politics, trade, economy, science, technology, the humanitarian field and other areas. The President of Russia also remarked that the accumulated experience of joint work helps find optimal solutions for any issues, including the most complicated ones, helps promote the development of the Belarusian-Russian ties.
