Khudyk appointed minister of natural resources and environmental protection

MINSK, 14 September (BelTA) – Andrei Khudyk has been appointed minister of natural resources and environmental protection by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 14 September, BelTA informs.

The head of state said that the new minister should pay attention to mineral deposits. “A serious task concerning natural resources was given to the former minister. What do we know about our country? We can see what is on the surface. But we do not know what is under the surface. Your task is to answer this question. Focus on what we need most of all today. You understand what I mean,” the president said.

The second task is environmental protection. “You know my attitude to nature. It is very respectful, and I want you to fulfill all my instructions regarding environmental protection,” Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.

He said that in comparison with other countries, including neighboring ones, Belarus has put this issue in order. “It is because we severely punish violators. I receive information that we have certain problems in the area which is monitored by the flora and fauna protection inspectorate. There are ugly facts. But you know what measures we are taking. These will be the toughest measures,” the president said.

“Nature is the God's gift, and we must protect it for our children and grandchildren,” the Belarusian leader said.
