IN PICTURES: Lukashenko tests a new harvester and teaches reporters how to use sickles

While visiting agricultural enterprises in Shklov District and Orsha District on 18 August Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko was made familiar with progress of the harvesting campaign in the country, with modern agricultural machines, and personally inspected a harvesting operation from the deck of a harvester.

The head of state rode a quad bike to a wheat field of the agricultural company OAO Alexandriyskoye. Upon arrival he noted that he had chosen the places to visit on that day for good reasons. “Today I've come to work. Here is the field of the president as someone eloquently put it in the past. It is indeed the field where I've been working [from a young age],” explained Alexander Lukashenko.

The president was made familiar with a KZS-1624-1 harvester, which represents top of the Palesse line made by Gomselmash Company. The head of state was informed about technical peculiarities of this model and the experience of operating it in field conditions.

After that the head of state suggested testing the harvester in action. One of the employees of the agricultural company took care of driving the harvester while Alexander Lukashenko stood on the deck near the driver's cabin to get familiar with the harvester's performance on the move. Alexander Lukashenko's youngest son Nikolai was standing next to him.

After that the Belarus president taught the reporters, who were following him, how to harvest grain crops with a sickle. Heads of municipal government agencies and other government officials also took part in the master class.

The head of state suggested reverting to the old ways of harvesting the grain crops after the reporters demonstrated their T-shirts with Belarusian ornamental designs, which underscore the national colors and the continuity of the generations, who had lived in the Belarusian lands for centuries and had been growing grain in the fields. BelTA reporters joined in the harvesting effort.
