Heads of local administrations receive broad powers during harvesting campaign in Belarus

MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) - Heads of district executive committees have been entrusted with broad powers during the harvesting campaign in Belarus, President Alexander Lukashenko said during the nationwide teleconference held on 2 August to discuss the harvesting campaign in 2017, BelTA has learned.

“I would like you understand that the decisions of heads of district executive committees connected with the harvesting campaign made before 1 October 2017 are irreversible and must be accepted without any appeal. If a head of a district executive committee needs to do something, it will be done. No one can interfere with his administrative and organizational functions. Only a governor can correct him if he agrees,” the head of state said. “I am saying this to avoid excuses that someone did not have enough authorities to harvest grain.”

Alexander Lukashenko remarked that there are only 3-4 troubled farms in every district. “Deal with them. Do not travel all over the district pretending to supervise anything. Go there where you are needed. Heads of district executive committees will be personally responsible for these 3-4 farms. Therefore, they have been entrusted with broad powers,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
