Distinguished Belarusians honored with state awards

MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) – Twelve Belarusians from different walks of life have been honored with state awards for many years of dedicated service, personal valor and selflessness demonstrated in time of emergency and for significant personal contribution to tackling the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The Order of Fatherland 3rd Class has been conferred on Vladimir Dvornik, Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.

The Order of Honor has been bestowed upon Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy and Chairman of the Narovlya District Executive Committee Valery Shlyaga.

Vasily Gurkov, director of Naliboksky National Landscape Reserve, and Tatyana Rovbut, associate professor at the first Child Disease Department of Grodno State Medical University, have been honored with medals for excellence in emergency prevention and management.

Seven Belarusians have been awarded medals for labor merits. These include Deputy Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Vladimir Gorbachev, Gomel Mayor Piotr Kirichenko, and chairman of the international public charitable association Help for Chernobyl Children Gennady Koretsky.
