Concern over working conditions of Belarusian farmers in hot weather

MINSK DISTRICT, 1 August (BelTA) – While getting familiar with progress of the harvesting campaign in Minsk District on 1 August, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko drew attention to the challenging working conditions of Belarusian farmers, who have to work in such hot weather, BelTA has learned.

The president said he believes that labor organization deserves more attention. If the hot weather spell continues, a break in the middle of the day may be in order in favor of working longer hours in the morning and the evening. “We have to take good care of the people,” stressed the head of state.

Alexander Lukashenko went into the fields of 1st Minsk Poultry Farm, which grows grain and produces milk and meat in addition to poultry farming.

The head of state was informed about progress of the harvesting campaign in 1st Minsk Poultry Farm, in Minsk District, in Minsk Oblast, and the country as a whole. Alexander Lukashenko was interested in details of the harvesting campaign and the situation in the regions.

Some 894,700ha of the land under grain and leguminous crops has been processed in Belarus already or 41.9% of the target. As much as 2.5 million tonnes of grain has been collected, with the average yield at 28.8 centners per hectare. Some 246,200 tonnes has been sold to the state as part of the government order, 28.7% of the targeted amount of 859,000 tonnes.

The president urged maximum effort to gather in everything from the country's fields.
