MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) – University applicants will be able to pass centralized tests in four subjects starting from 2017. The proposal was supported by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko at the session held on 3 May to discuss the improvement of university and college admission regulations, BelTA informs.
University applicants will be able to submit the results of three tests to enrolment commissions. As for college applicants, they will have an opportunity to pass centralized tests in three subjects and submit the results of two tests.
Education Minister Mikhail Zhuravkov told reporters that this innovation will make it easier for school graduates to choose between close specializations with different subjects as second majors. Therefore, an applicant will be able to pass four centralized tests, then choose three of them and file documents, he said.
Apart from that, the head of state supported the proposal to make centralized testing certificates valid for two years and increase the number of additional days for passing centralized tests to three.
At the end of the meeting the President approved a number of proposals regarding the improvement of university and college admission regulations. It is expected that all the innovations will enter into force in 2017. This year's enrolment campaign will be held in compliance with the existing regulations.
