Belarusian farms urged to use locally bred seeds

SHKLOV DISTRICT, 13 August (BelTA) – Agricultural organizations should use locally bred seeds, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he visited the fields of OAO Aleksandriyskoye on 11 August, BelTA has learned.

The president was informed that the yield of Belarusian grain varieties is much higher that the yield of imported seeds. The head of state stressed that Belarusian farmers should focus on using locally bred seeds. “We have enough seeds,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

“Do not focus import. I have said many times that our competitors will never give their best seeds. They will give us what they do not need,” the head of state is convinced. “I do not think we would give our best seeds to any country except Russia either.”
