MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) – There are good prospects for increasing the trade turnover of Belarus with Russia's Rostov Oblast 1.5 times to $0.5 billion, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting with Governor of Russia's Rostov Oblast Vasily Golubev on 11 May, BelTA has learned.
The president mentioned a positive dynamics in trade between Belarus and Rostov Oblast. In 2016, the trade turnover went up almost 20% and reached $340 million. “If we act in a persistent and systematic way, we will reach a desirable $0.5 billion level of bilateral trade,” the head of state said.
Alexander Lukashenko remarked that Rostov Oblast is one of the largest agricultural regions in Russia. Therefore, the sides should promote agriculture as a very promising field. Belarus has certain practical experience in animal husbandry, crop farming, cultivation of grain, vegetables. The country also uses the best global practices in the construction and reorganization of farms into dairy complexes.
Apart from that, it is possible to deliver corresponding goods and products to Rostov Oblast. Belarus can offer MAZ buses to help Rostov-on-Don get ready for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
“Taking into account the industrial and innovative potential of Belarus and Rostov Oblast, we need to mull over the possibilities to step up existing production cooperation ties,” the president said.
There are good prospects for cooperation in the construction industry, including road construction. “Our company Belgiprodor has gained a good reputation in many Russian regions. If you are interested, we are ready to work in Rostov Oblast. We can also provide services in the repair of road construction equipment, designing and construction of various kinds of roads,” the head of state remarked.
“You are aware of our opportunities. You are not alien people to us,” the Belarusian leader added.
