Belarus, Russia agree on joint steps to enhance security

SAINT PETERSBURG, 4 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia agreed on joint steps in enhancing security, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on 3 April, BelTA has learned.

“You see what is taking place around us. All we want is to preserve stability in Russia and Belarus. Very few peaceful spots have left in this world. We have agreed on joint steps to preserve stability in our states,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

“We spoke a lot about security, and not just because of this incident [metro explosions in Saint Petersburg]. Security was the main issue on the agenda. The oil and gas sector was not the matter we started our talks with. We paid our primary attention to security issues, as we planned to do,” the President of Belarus said.
