Belarus ready to set up joint industrial companies in Thailand

MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to set up joint industrial companies in Thailand, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with Chairman of the National Legislative Assembly of the Kingdom of Thailand Pornpetch Wichitcholchai on 27 June, BelTA has learned.

“We are ready to set up joint companies in Thailand to produce goods you need, especially in mechanical engineering. We are ready to supply goods and also buy products in Thailand. However, in order to make the corresponding steps in this direction, we need to consider the issue in detail,” said Alexander Lukashenko.

According to the head of state, the countries need to work out the corresponding legal framework. “We need basic documents for mutual trade. Some draft documents are currently on the table. We both know what we should do and that we need to make these steps,” the President said.

Cooperation between Belarus and Thailand began at the legislative level. “In Belarus it will be the Parliament who will be the main guiding link in our relations. But I, as the head of state, will do everything possible so that our relationship evolve and deepen,” the Belarusian leader assured. Alexander Lukashenko added that the countries have developed a roadmap of relations. “I would not say that this is the final version. I think that we will keep working on the plan of our relations, will deepen and expand them, particularly in the area of economic cooperation, because it is the foundation of any relationship,” the head of state said.

For his part, Pornpetch Wichitcholchai said that the diplomatic relations between Thailand and Belarus were established 24 years ago, but the countries started working more closely just recently. The Chairman of the National Legislative Assembly of Thailand expressed the hope that the President of the Republic of Belarus will continue to support the strengthening of relations between the two states.
