Belarus president's visit to Egypt over

CAIRO, 16 January (BelTA) – The official visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to Egypt is now over. The aircraft with the Belarusian head of state on board has left the Cairo International Airport, BelTA has learned.

Egypt President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi came to the airport to see off Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko.

On 16 January the Belarusian head of state met with Egyptian Prime Minister Sherif Ismail. The importance of stepping up the bilateral relations in economy and politics was noted during the meeting.

After that Alexander Lukashenko and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi took part in the opening ceremony of the Belarusian-Egyptian business forum. During the forum it was stated that new horizons are opening up in Belarus-Egypt cooperation. In particular, Belarus and Egypt intend to step up manufacturing cooperation in the production sector, agriculture, and ground water purification.

The two heads of state also went on a tour of the exhibition of Belarusian machines and vehicles. The exhibition had been opened as part of the forum.

The same day Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko met with Speaker of the House of Representatives of Egypt Ali Abdel Aal. The negotiations focused on discussing prospects of advancing cooperation between the Belarusian and Egyptian parliaments.
