Belarus president tells newly appointed government executives to act fairly

MINSK, 7 December (BelTA) – Government executives should always exercise their powers bearing the principle of fairness in mind. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko gave the relevant instructions as he approved the appointment of several heads of municipal government agencies on 7 December, BelTA has learned.

The head of state pointed out that honesty and integrity are always important in work with people. “Fairness is the key principle. There is no other way,” said Alexander Lukashenko. “The law cannot cover all the subtleties of life and human thoughts. This is why make sure people don't take offence at your actions.”

The president remarked that municipal government executives are responsible for their specific territories as a whole. There can be no someone else's people or companies. “You shouldn't distinguish between municipal enterprises and those accountable to the central government. All of them are your enterprises. Act boldly. It doesn't matter whether it is a state-run enterprise or a private one. Me and you are responsible for the people,” stressed the Belarusian leader.

“Exercise your authority. It is what you are supposed to do. It is your key task. You know how to do things because you are immersed into these processes,” added Alexander Lukashenko.

Alexander Lukashenko also pointed out that elections to the municipal councils of deputies will be a particularly responsible time for the heads of the regional government agencies. The president remarked that municipal government agencies will have to do the bulk of the organizational work instead of the Central Election Commission of Belarus. “Everything should be proper and decent but authorities should demonstrate their power and confidence in the exercise of this power,” said the president.
