Belarus president off to Russia on working visit

MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko is on his way to Russia. The aircraft with the Belarusian head of state on board left the Minsk National Airport this evening, BelTA has learned.

While talking over the phone on 31 January, the Belarusian and Russian heads of state agreed to meet again in order to discuss the implementation of the agreements reached during the previous talks in the Kremlin in late 2018. During the forthcoming top-level meetings in Sochi the sides are expected to discuss the most pressing issues in Belarus-Russia cooperation.

Some details of the agenda and the format of the meeting were revealed the day before. On 13 February Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin are expected to discuss key items on the bilateral agenda and prospects of advancing integration processes in the Eurasian space. Taking into account the constructive advancement of Belarus-Russia cooperation in cultural and humanitarian affairs, on 15 February Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin will meet with the Belarusian and Russian ministers in charge of education, culture, and sport. “Concrete proposals on further advancing cooperation in these important fields will be discussed,” the press service of the Russian president said.
