Belarus President meets with Premier of China's State Council in Beijing

BEIJING, 30 September (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang held talks in Beijing on 30 September, BelTA has learned.

At the start of the meeting the Belarusian head of state noted that he has been interested in the development of the Chinese state for almost 25 years already, and that his familiarization with the country started before he was elected President. Alexander Lukashenko said that when he was an MP he suggested using the Chinese experience in developing Belarus without destroying the existing system and state structure of the country. “Then, however, we had too many liberals who decided to choose the western part of development,” the Belarusian leader noted.

The head of state stressed that despite it he continued studying the Chinese experience. “I paid visits to your country, explored cities and the operation of free economic zones, saw your villages. I know the general trend in the development of this wonderful and ancient state very well. Back then, before my presidency, I instinctively knew that the future of our planet was in China. As you see, I was not mistaken,” the President said.

In turn, Li Keqiang expressed confidence that Alexander Lukashenko's state visit would give an additional powerful impetus to the further development of the Chinese-Belarusian relations. “I am ready to share opinions with you on the bilateral agenda and matters of mutual interest,” he said.
