Belarus president invites Kazakhstan to exchange culture days

MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Kazakhstan need to resume the practice of exchanging culture days, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during the talks with Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

“It is important that we maintain the spirit of friendship and mutual respect between peoples which we inherited from the Soviet Union and pass it over to the younger generations. Therefore I suggest resuming the days of culture. This will contribute to the rapprochement of our people and promotion of traditions, achievements and historical heritage,” the president said.

He stated his intention to continue to actively maintain contacts in the fields of education, culture, and healthcare. “Our countries can be proud by right of the results of humanitarian cooperation,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.

A unique project to set up a scientific and educational consortium between universities and research institutions of Belarus and Kazakhstan has been implemented in the post-Soviet space. It unites more than 40 participants. More than 500 Kazakhstani citizens attend universities in Belarus.

Collaboration in healthcare has been developing fast. “By the way, the first liver transplant on adults and children have been performed in Kazakhstan with the assistance of Belarusian specialists,” the head of state noted.
