MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – Oil is the prime cause for sanctions against major exporters of this raw material. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the relevant statement in his address to the nation and the parliament on 24 April, BelTA has learned.
The head of state noted: “Oil is the prime cause for sanctions against major exporters of this raw material such as Russia, Iran, and Venezuela. Influential global players are no longer content with controlling only oil extraction and delivery. Oil is becoming a most effective instrument for manipulations and putting pressure on demand and supply.”
In his words, the resulting instability on international markets affects any country and economy. “It disallows countries, which depend heavily on oil, to form long-term strategies and development plans. Belarus is no exception,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
