Belarus president: Discipline is number one priority

MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) - Discipline is the main priority, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting with the high-ranking officials of the State Secretariat of the Security Council of Belarus on 27 July, BelTA has learned.

The head of state spoke about the implementation of Directive No. 1. “I cannot say that everything is alright with discipline with Belarus,” he said.

When comparing the situation in Belarus with the situation in other countries, the president pointed out the importance of the fact that “people live in a calm and safe environment where the government responds to people's demands.”

“Discipline is a corner stone,” Alexander Lukashenko is convinced. “I cannot say that we have done everything in this field. Therefore, discipline is number one priority. It especially depends on power-wielding bodies, on the attitude of the military.” He said that they should control the situation, especially on the streets. “They should pay attention to everything, including traffic, movement of people, providing assistance if necessary. We must prove to people that we are doing everything we can.”

The meeting focused on the organization of joint patrolling by the military and policemen who will maintain public order in populated areas.
