Belarus president briefed on quality of harvesting equipment

MINSK DISTRICT, 1 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko went to Minsk District to inspect the harvest progress on 1 August. On the grain field belonging to the First Minsk Poultry Factory the head of state talked to officials and harvester operators, BelTA has learned.

After hearing out reports on the progress with harvesting, the president approached a Palesse GS12 A1 combine harvester that was operated by young driver Aleksei Yakovlev. Alexander Lukashenko asked him how the work was going, whether there are any issues and whether the machinery breaks. “How is the harvester overall?” the president asked. The operator answered confidently: “Great”.

The head of state liked what he heard; after all, a lot of efforts and resources were invested in expanding the lineup of Belarusian harvesting machines as part of the import substitution program. A task was set some time ago to make Belarusian harvesters as good as foreign ones. Palesse GS12 A1 is one of the samples of new Belarusian machinery.

The president recalled the instruction to roll out a super-harvester. In fact, such a harvester has already been developed by Belarusian specialists. The machine features all the necessary specifications.

At present, a total of 9,100 harvesters are used to harvest cereals and leguminous crops. The technical availability of the harvester pool is estimated at 97%. Minsk Oblast operates 2,123 grain harvesters. The workload on one harvester is 234 hectares on Belarus' average and 230 hectares in Minsk Oblast.
