Belarus named example of peace, tolerance, interethnic unity

MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – Belarus has become an example of peace, tolerance and interethnic unity, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during his annual State of the Nation Address on 21 April, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus has become an example of peace, tolerance and interethnic unity for everyone. Here, we should be grateful to all religious confessions and national diasporas whose constructive and humanistic approach helps consolidate our society,” the head of state said.

Historically, Belaya Rus has become a hospitable home where everyone can learn about the culture and customs of many nations. Belarusians and Russians, Ukrainians and Poles, Jews and Tatars, Estonians and Lithuanians, Uzbeks and Kazakhs, representatives of many other ethnicities live in peace in Belarus. “This cultural and religious diversity is not an apple of discord as it happens in many other places of our planet. On the contrary, it promotes mutual enrichment. The state has managed to achieve this with the help of a well-balanced and committed policy,” the president stressed.

Such state system, alongside with the geographic position and rich history of the country, determines Belarus' foreign policy, the head of state said.
