Belarus' MPs advised to pay priority attention to economic matters

MINSK, 25 January (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has advised MPs to pay priority attention to economic matters, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko told the media after the meeting with the head of state on 25 January, BelTA has learned.

“The head of state recommended paying priority attention to the economic issues, such as entrepreneurship, self-employment and investment activities,” said Vladimir Andreichenko.

In his words, the House of Representatives have more than 40 draft laws ready for reading at the spring session.

“I think that the Belarusian society will be most interested in such draft laws as organic farming (the document will be up for reading at the House of Representatives), food quality and security, consumer protection. They are all directly related to the preservation and strengthening of the health of our people,” he said.

The president also noted that the deputies need to strengthen the work in constituencies, especially in the run-up to the elections to local councils. “The sacred duty of the House of Representatives is to be closer to people, local authorities, and to assist them in addressing the issues they encounter,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.
