Belarus' local elections scheduled for 18 February 2018

MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) – Elections to the 28th convocation local councils of deputies in Belarus are scheduled for Sunday, 18 February 2018. The decision is stipulated in Decree No.410 signed by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The document is designed to exercise the constitutional powers of the head of state to call the elections to local representative bodies (paragraph 2, article 84 of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus).

Government bodies and other organizations are hereby tasked with taking organizational measures falling within their competence to prepare for and hold the elections. The government shall finance the election campaign out of the state budget appropriations earmarked for these purposes.
