MINSK, 30 September (BelTA) – The leaders of Belarus and China are interested in the development of youth and student cooperation between Belarus and China, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in his speech in Peking University on 30 September, BelTA has learned.
“This is my ninth visit to China. Every time I arrive in a virtually new country, and I cannot but admire it. I had been here even before I became the President. However, this is my first speech in front of Chinese students. I would like to say that Xi Jinping and I pin great hopes on you, on the youth and student cooperation,” the Belarusian head of state said.
In his words, a good foundation has been created for the development of such cooperation. About 200 educational programs have been launched, three Confucius Institutes and seven Confucius Classrooms have been opened in Belarus, the students of Beijing International Studies University can study the Belarusian language.
“Believe me, about 2,000 Chinese students and 600 Belarusians in China is a drop in the ocean for our countries,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
The President urged to look for and use various methods for the development of youth and student contacts. “Let's study and work together. It will be a good foundation for the development of our relations,” he said.
The head of state emphasized a great diversity of cultural events and invited students and lecturers to visit Belarus, the country of blue rivers, lakes, and medieval castles. “Besides, we have recently solved a number of visa formalities. Belarus is open for you,” Alexander Lukashenko added.
