Yesin attends commemorative events in Hiroshima

MINSK, 7 August (BelTA) – On the invitation of the Japanese side, Belarus' Ambassador to Japan Ruslan Yesin attended the ceremony to mark the tragic events that took place in Hiroshima in 1945, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Japan.

Attending the official ceremony was Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe with a new government, MPs, regional and city authorities of Hiroshima and also representatives of public organizations and the diplomatic corps.

Ruslan Yesin met with Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Taro Kono ahead of the events. The ambassador congratulated the Japanese official on the appointment and reaffirmed Belarus' interest in intensifying bilateral relations.

The meeting of Ruslan Yesin with the government of Hiroshima Prefecture, MPs of the Japanese parliament and the Hiroshima mayor resulted in an agreement to launch join work on establishing interregional cooperation in the humanitarian and economic areas.

The Belarusian diplomat also took part in the Message of Peace campaign held by Japanese school students and visited an exposition of portraits of those who survived the atomic bombing.
