MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – Chairperson of the Belarusian Central Election Commission (CEC) Lidia Yermoshina will attend a conference of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on media freedom as a cornerstone for democratic elections to be held in Berlin on 4 July, CEC Secretary Nikolai Lozovik said on 28 June, BelTA has learned.
“The conference will discuss the activities of mass media related to the coverage of elections, matters of journalism ethics, and the role of parliaments in ensuring media freedom during elections,” Nikolai Lozovik noted.
The conference will bring together MPs from the Eastern Partnership countries, Germany, representatives of PACE, OSCE/ODIHR and central election commissions of different countries, and journalists.
