MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – The voter turnout during the elections to the municipal councils of deputies in Belarus totaled 70.54% as of 18:00, BelTA learned from representatives of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus.
As many as 68.31% of the voters in Brest Oblast have cast their votes. Vitebsk Oblast reported 77.29%, Gomel Oblast — 76.12%, Grodno Oblast — 71.57%, Minsk Oblast — 70.50%, Mogilev Oblast — 76.99%, and the city of Minsk — 58.20%.
As many as 6,929,525 Belarusians are on the voter lists.
Over 22,000 people stand as candidates, vying for slightly more than 18,000 seats in the local councils of deputies.
