Union State MPs hope for quick resolution of issues in Belarus-Russia relations

MINSK, 28 February (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia will solve oil, gas and food issues in the near future, Vladimir Lityushkin, a member of the Federation Council Committee on the Federal Structure, Regional Policies, Local Self-Governance and Affairs of the North, told reporters on 28 February, BelTA informs.

The MP noted that the issues existing in the Belarusian-Russian relations have a technical character. They will not have any consequences for the development of the Union State. “The issue will be solved within the framework of the legal political field. It will come to a logical conclusion in the near future,” Vladimir Lityushkin assured.

He added that the Union State MPs plan to keep this issue under control and monitor the measures that are taken.

On 28 February, the Council of the Republic hosts a session of the Internal Policy Commission of the Belarus-Russia Union State Parliamentary Assembly. The MPs plan to review the progress in the implementation of the program of concerted measures in foreign policy of the states-parties to the Union State Treaty in 2016-2017, the results of the winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, and the Union State 2016 budget performance report.
