UN to support Belarus' initiative to establish partnership network of national SDG coordinators

MINSK, 6 March (BelTA) - Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the United Nations Valentin Rybakov met with UN Deputy Secretary General Amina J. Mohammed on 5 March 2018, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

UN Deputy Secretary General Amina J. Mohammed expressed appreciation for the opportunity to visit Minsk and attend the Regional Sustainable Development Goals Coordination Leaders Forum. She welcomed the initiative of Belarus to establish a partnership network of national SDG coordinators and noted the support of the UN Secretariat for this new format of partnership. Amina J. Mohammed also stressed the need to disseminate the experience of the Republican Rehabilitation Center for Children with Disabilities which she visited during her stay in Minsk.

Valentin Rybakov thanked Amina J. Mohammed for her participation in the forum in Minsk and assured of Belarus' commitment to continue cooperation with the countries of the region with an aim of involving them in the implementation of the Belarusian initiative.

The parties outlined the further joint steps regarding the dissemination of the results of the forum and practical assistance of the UN Secretariat in establishing the partnership network of national SDG coordinators.
