Ukraine insists on hostage release, Red Cross access to Donbass area

MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – Ukraine insists that hostages must be released and that the Red Cross must be granted unhindered access to the country's southeast, BelTA learned from Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin on 29 November.

The Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs said: “We have agreed that we will continue insisting on unhindered access of the Red Cross and other international humanitarian organizations. Without this access we will be unable to move forward.”

In his words, Ukraine also insists that the border with Russia must be controlled by the OSCE.

Apart from that, the Ukrainian side would like all the hostages to be released and security to be ensured, including humanitarian security, in the country's southeast.

BelTA reported earlier that the ministers of foreign affairs of Russia, Ukraine, Germany, and France (the Normandy Four) met in the President Hotel in Minsk on 29 November. Sergei Lavrov, Pavlo Klimkin, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Jean-Marc Ayrault came to Minsk to participate in the talks.
