Ukraine insists on fifth working group in trilateral contact group

MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Ukraine insists on setting up another working group in the trilateral contact group that promotes the peace settlement in Ukraine, Irina Gerashchenko, First Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, the representative of Kiev in the working group on humanitarian affairs, told reporters on 26 August, BelTA has learned.

In her words, the new working group would deal with issues arising on the Ukrainian border.

“Border-related issues are a matter of principle for the Ukrainian side. This is why we have been struggling all this year for the establishment of a working group for the restoration of Ukrainian control over its border and for the provision of access to the Ukrainian-Russian border to the OSCE, so that this neutral international organization could control the situation there,” Irina Gerashchenko explained.
