Talks on Ukraine resume in Minsk

MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) – A regular round of talks to secure peaceful settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine is underway in Minsk, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Minsk is hosting the meeting of the working groups of the trilateral contact group promoting peace settlement in Ukraine, the ministry said.

The previous talks on Ukraine were held in the Belarusian capital on 4 May. Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in Ukraine and in the Trilateral Contact Group, Ambassador Martin Sajdik stressed an important achievement in restoring Vodafone-Ukraine mobile communication in certain areas of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. This was a major achievement of the Trilateral Contact Group, especially of its Working Group on Economic Issues. The Working Groups also continued their discussion on the exchange of detainees and the conditions of their detention as well as the implementation of the so-called ‘Steinmeier formula'.
