Steps taken to restore mobile services in Ukraine's Donbass area

MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – Serious steps have been taken to restore mobile communication services in the Donbass area, BelTA learned from the OSCE's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine Martin Sajdik after a regular meeting of the contact group and its subgroups in Minsk on 4 May.

“I would like to share one important achievement of our work. Substantial steps have been taken to restore Vodafone Ukraine mobile services. It is a great accomplishment of the trilateral contact group, particularly the subgroup on economic affairs,” said Martin Sajdik. He specified he was referring to the availability of mobile communications in certain parts of Donetsk Oblast and Lugansk Oblast.

“I am deeply grateful and thankful not only to Vodafone personnel, who have done a great deal of work to check and reboot the equipment within four days, but also to the team of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine, who accompanied the Vodafone specialists for the duration of their stay in certain parts of Donetsk Oblast and Lugansk Oblast,” said Martin Sajdik.

Martin Sajdik was convinced that it was a very important achievement for a large part of the population.
