Speaker: Union State Treaty still relevant

MOGILEV, 12 October (BelTA) - The provisions of the Union State Treaty are still relevant, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich told reporters in Mogilev on 12 October, BelTA has learned.

“The big task, including in the framework of the Forum of Regions, is to make sure all the provisions of the treaty are executed. This is what the concept of approximation of national legislation is aimed at,” the speaker stressed. It is designed to help us avoid various kinds of hiccups in the lawmaking process, he added.

The speaker noted that the upper houses of parliaments of the two countries are actively working on the concept. “The document is based on a very serious scientific analysis, and I think it will be the roadmap which will help us harmonize all national legal acts,” Mikhail Myasnikovich noted. The speaker is convinced that the concept will help avoid “multi-temporal approaches or fundamental differences.”
