Slovenia supports easing EU visa requirements for Belarusians

MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – Slovenia supports the early signing of the agreement on easing the visa requirements between Belarus and the EU, Slovenia Vice Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Karl Erjavec said following the talks with Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei on 25 March, BelTA has learned.

According to the Vice Premier, the Slovenian side advocates freedom of movement for citizens.

Karl Erjavec pointed out that the relations between Belarus and Slovenia have always been good. Even during the time of the EU sanctions the country always advocated their canceling.

As for economic cooperation, the Vice Premier stressed that the two countries are most interested in the areas such as railway modernization, energy, pharmaceutics and others. The Slovenian business is determined to develop long-term cooperation with Belarusian partners. They are also set to create new jobs.

In conclusion Karl Erjavec thanked his Belarusian counterpart for the possibility to visit Belarus. He invited Vladimir Makei to pay a visit to Slovenia and expressed hope that the visit would take place this year.
