Serbia promises all-round support, cooperation to Belarus

BELGRADE, 19 April (BelTA) - Belarus can count on the all-round support and cooperation of Serbia, Serbia Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said as he met with the Belarusian delegation headed by Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Vladimir Koltovich in Belgrade on 19 April. The delegation came to the Serbian capital for the tenth meeting of the Belarusian-Serbian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, BelTA has learned.

Welcoming the Belarusian delegation, Aleksandar Vucic drew the attention to the importance of the outcome of his visit to Minsk in January this year. He stressed that during the talks with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, an understanding was reached on all issues on the agenda.

Belarus and Serbia have a good understanding of each other in politics and economy, have good prospects for deepening bilateral and multilateral contacts, Aleksandar Vucic stressed. It is important that Belarus and Serbia have largely similar positions on international issues, the prime minister said.

The Prime Minister of Serbia welcomed the results of the tenth meeting of the Belarusian-Serbian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, and the ninth meeting of the business council for cooperation between the chambers of commerce of the two countries. The Serbian head of government assured that Serbia will continue to develop active cooperation with Belarus.

Vladimir Koltovich briefed the Serbian prime minister on the results of the Belarusian-Serbian talks in Belgrade and noted the great interest of Serbia business in contacts with Belarusian partners. He also reported on bilateral agreements after the meeting of the Belarusian-Serbian working group on cooperation in the field of agriculture.

The head of the Belarusian delegation expressed confidence that Aleksandar Vucic, who was elected the new President of Serbia, will continue to contribute to the development of Belarusian-Serbian cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Serbia Vladimir Chushev, Honorary Consul of Belarus in Serbia Dragomir Karic, representatives of the Agriculture and Food Ministry, the Sport and Tourism Ministry, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
