Sajdik: Parties agree to withdraw forces in two areas

MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) - Participants to the working group on security agreed on withdrawal of forces in two areas, OSCE special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine, Ambassador Martin Sajdik told media, BelTA has learned.

“The working group continued discussing the security issues that were already reviewed during the conference of this working group on 24 June. Today, significant progress has been made. I am pleased to note that all the parties reached an agreement in principle to withdraw forces and means in two places: Zolotoye and Petrovskoye. Work on this issue will continue,” Ambassador Martin Sajdik informed.

The working group on economic affairs mainly discussed the theme of restoring the railway infrastructure. Social payments and on property-related issues were also in the spotlight. “The discussion demonstrated the urgency of addressing social issues in the zone of conflict. In particular, this is about the wage arrears to employees in certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk Oblasts,” Ambassador Martin Sajdik noted.

During the talks, it was reported that the supply of coal from the certain districts of Donetsk Oblast to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government was partially resumed. Ambassador Martin Sajdik noted that this aspect is very important for the electricity production. There is a need to formulate a clearer mechanism for transport of coal in the future.

The working group on political affairs discussed the amnesty and the holding of local elections in certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk Oblasts.
