Sajdik hails process of prisoners exchange in Donbass

MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) – Martin Sajdik, the OSCE's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine, positively assessed the process of prisoners exchange in Donbass as he spoke to the press following the talks in Minsk on 19 July, BelTA learned.

“Verifying the lists is a very complex process. I believe that good work is being done in this direction,” Ambassador Martin Sajdik noted.

The diplomat noted that he has been looking positively at the recent developments regarding the verification of the lists and exchange of detained persons in Ukraine.

Ambassador Martin Sajdik also informed that at the last meeting of the contact group in Minsk the working group for humanitarian affairs continued working on the harmonization of the lists of detained individuals. In terms of these lists the participants managed to agree on a few more positions.

The working group for security noted that thanks to the harvest ceasefire the intensity of gunfire has reduced. However, the ceasefire violations continue to be registered, mainly in the so-called hot spots near several human settlements (Popasnaya, Pervomaisk, Mariupol, Svetlodarsk, and also in the triangle Avdeyevka-Yasinovataya-Donetsk airport).
