Saint Petersburg to host EEU, CSTO summits on 26 December

MOSCOW, 19 December (BelTA) – A session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and a session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will take place in Saint Petersburg on 26 December, the Kremlin press service told BelTA.

Participants of the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council are expected to sum up results of the first two years of the Eurasian Economic Union's work in addition to sketching out guidelines on the future development of the integration association. Plans have been made to sign an agreement on the Eurasian Economic Union Customs Code. A number of other important multilateral documents are supposed to be passed, including those meant to advance the formation of the common Eurasian market of commodities and services. Participants of the session will approve the main guidelines for the Eurasian Economic Union's international activities in 2017. Various aspects of cooperation with key trade and economic partners of the Eurasian Economic Union will be discussed.

Participants of the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council are supposed to discuss topical spheres of interaction inside the organization and the CSTO's daily operation. Opinions will be exchanged about key items on the global and regional agendas, including the counteraction of terrorist and extremist threats and the suppression of the illegal trade in narcotics and weapons.
