Rybakov: A new world order should be state-driven

MINSK, 27 September (BelTA) – A new world order should be state-driven, inclusive and not imposed, Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov said at the general debate of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly, BelTA learnt from the UN News Center.

According to Valentin Rybakov, the so-called winners of the Cold War did not want to integrate the “losers” into the system, instead attempting to impose their will upon them. “This attempt failed. It could not be different. Perhaps we actually teach something from the history. The consequences of this attempt, however, were terrible: destroyed states, numerous smoldering conflicts, mega-terrorism, a new great resettlement of peoples in the form of migrants,” said the representative of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He called for creating a new world order, stressing that the new system should be state-driven. “States remain to be the major players on the international arena. Anarchy, chaos and violence reign where the state is weak or there is no state at all,” said Valentin Rybakov.

Speaking about the inclusive world, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that every state should have a real voice within it, “not just for the sake of appearances”. He also stated that the new system can not be imposed, but cultivated, so that it would be viewed as fair by everyone.

“Traditions and culture cannot be changed. Imposing views on one another is a useless and unpromising undertaking,” the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said. He added in this respect that Belarus is committed to the values of traditional families.
