Reynders' meeting with Lukashenko described as open discussion of all issues on bilateral agenda

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) – There was an open discussion of the issues on the agenda, including sensitive ones, at the meeting of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Didier Reynders, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of Belgium, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told reporters, BelTA informs.

“Before the meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Reynders met with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. I should say that there was an absolutely open discussion and an open conversation on all the issues on our bilateral and multilateral agenda. The sides discussed all issues of our cooperation, including sensitive ones. There was a very substantial conversation,” the minister said.

The talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also took place in a friendly and positive atmosphere, they were substantial and productive. “We did not keep silent about the issues which exist in our relations, did not conceal them. On the contrary, we openly spoke about them, discussed them and tried to find solutions,” Vladimir Makei stated.

He emphasized that the visit of the Belgian delegation gives an opportunity for a large-scale, comprehensive and constructive exchange of opinions on a wide range of issues. The visit also has a symbolic and historical value – this is the first visit of the representative of the Belgian government of this level to Belarus in the entire history of bilateral relations. Besides, the visit takes place a few days after the celebration of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Belgium.
