Ravkov: People of Belarus, China value friendship, successfully developing relations

MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) – The people of Belarus and China value friendship and successfully developing relations between the two countries, Belarus' Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov said at the event to mark the 90th anniversary of the People' Liberation Army of China on 28 July, BelTA has learned.

“Over a short period of time Belarus and China have managed to build trust-based relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation based on traditional friendship and mutual respect. Amid a changing political situation worldwide such relations can be set as an example to many states. The history of mutual relations between Belarus and China has shown that our peoples can be friends and value successfully developing relations,” the minister said.

Andrei Ravkov stated that friendly relations between two leaders Alexander Lukashenko and Xi Jinping are a solid foundation of bilateral cooperation in various sectors. The visit of the president of Belarus to China in May became a continuation in the development of interstate relations. The talks with Xi Jinping were focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in military security. The leaders agreed to strengthen bilateral relations, and secure a safe and successful implementation of joint projects.

“Over the last decade China has made a breakthrough in many areas. The People's Liberation Army has undergone quality transformations as well. It can be said with confidence that it is a modern, well-equipped military component of the state, which makes a considerable contribution to the strengthening of regional and global security. An important constituent of the Belarusian-Chinese relations is active cooperation between the military agencies of Belarus and China,” Andrei Ravkov said.
