Putin: Minsk agreements are important for peaceful settlement in southeast Ukraine

MOSCOW, 18 December (BelTA) – The Minsk agreements are important for the peaceful settlement of the conflict in the southeast of Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the annual news conference on 18 December, BelTA has learned.

According to Vladimir Putin, the Russian side believes that the crisis in the southeast of Ukraine will be settled by political methods. “There are no other means except for peaceful settlement,” he said. Vladimir Putin is convinced that Piotr Poroshenko is also in favor of the peaceful settlement of the conflict. However, not all political forces in Ukraine support him.

According to the Russian President, an agreement was reached that members of the contact group on Ukraine will hold a video conference in a day or two. Later they will meet in Minsk.
